Short version: no account or ad tracking. If you choose to share your location, PantryGNV uses it for nearby results, weather and trip planning without building a location history.

What we don’t collect

  • No names, email addresses or accounts.
  • No analytics, advertising IDs or third-party trackers.
  • No location history. We don’t sell or share location data.

Your location

We ask for your location only after you tap a button like “Use my location.” Your exact coordinates stay in browser memory while the app is open. Coordinates are not stored in browser storage, D1 or Neon, and PantryGNV does not keep a location history. We store only a yes-or-no preference saying that you turned location on.

On a later visit, location resumes automatically only when that preference exists and your browser already reports permission as granted. PantryGNV will not reopen the permission prompt on its own. Use “Stop using my location” under More at any time to stop updates and remove the saved preference.

Weather and directions

To request weather near you, the browser rounds your location to three decimal places and sends it in a private request body to PantryGNV’s Cloudflare Worker. The Worker asks the National Weather Service for the matching forecast grid. The point is not placed in a URL, response or cache key, and coordinates are not stored. Pantry locations use their published coordinates instead. Weather forecasts are cached by public NWS grid, not by a person or device.

A bus-route request sends your starting point in the request body so the Worker can calculate the trip. Opening walking, cycling or driving directions shares the selected starting point with the maps app you choose. PantryGNV does not log or store those coordinates.

What stays on your device

Saved resources, your theme choice, the location opt-in preference and a copy of recently viewed listings for offline use are kept in your browser’s storage. The location preference contains no coordinates. Clearing site data removes these items.

Reminders and calendar subscriptions

If you follow a resource, your browser creates a random device key. We store only a one-way hash of it, the resources you follow and your reminder choices. If you turn on notifications, we also store the push address your browser provides. Calendar subscription links use a separate random token. You can delete all of this at any time from More → Delete this device’s data.

Maps

Map tiles load from OpenFreeMap. Like any website, their servers see your IP address when they send map images. The requested tiles reflect the area visible on the map, but PantryGNV does not add your exact GPS coordinates to the tile request.
