What We Learned Mapping 54 Free Food Resources in Alachua County
PantryGNV now lists 54 food pantries, distributions, meals and mutual-aid sites across Alachua County. Here's what the data shows about hours, ID rules and gaps.

As of October 6, 2026, PantryGNV lists 54 free food resources in Alachua County. Most came from the partner map that Feeding Northeast Florida and Bread of the Mighty Food Bank publish. The rest came from organizations' own websites, the University of Florida's resource list and local news. We checked each one by hand before adding it.
A few things stood out.
Most of it is in Gainesville, but not all
36 of the 54 are in Gainesville. The other 18 are spread across Newberry, High Springs and Micanopy (four each), Archer and Alachua (two each), plus one each in Hawthorne and Waldo. Several small-town pantries open only once or twice a month, so a missed date can mean a long wait. Each town now has its own page, starting with Newberry and High Springs.
Hardly anyone publishes their ID rules
This was the surprise. Only five resources say outright that no ID is needed, and four say ID is required. The other 45 don't say either way.
That's why so many listings show "ID not confirmed." It isn't a hidden "no." It means nobody has published the answer. If you run a pantry, adding one line to your listing (what people need to bring) would save your neighbors a lot of uncertainty. What to bring to a food pantry explains how to read those answers.
Monthly pop-ups do a lot of the work
Eleven of the listings are mobile or pop-up distributions: a truck or tent at a church lot or apartment complex. Some come weekly, many once a month, and several are drive-through. Their windows are short. At two of them, the organizers write that food is usually gone within the hour. The calendar is the easiest way to see when the next one is.
Weekends are thin
Eight resources have Saturday dates, and only two have Sunday ones: GRACE Marketplace's meals and Windsor Baptist Church's twice-monthly distribution. If you work weekdays, the weekend guide pulls together what's coming up.
Fifteen listings have no dates on the calendar
A few of those are fine: two pantries work by appointment, and the community fridge is open around the clock. For the other twelve, the best we have is a phone number with "call for information," a schedule that's two years old, or two sources that disagree. Mount Olive AME and the Salvation Army are marked "Conflicting information" because the published schedules we found don't match. We show both versions until someone can confirm.
What's next
We'll keep checking these sources and add organizations as they publish information we can verify. If something's wrong, or you run a program we've missed, let us know. The sources page shows everything we read.
